As a student at the Louisville School of Art I studied the basic arts and eventually decided to focus on drawing and painting. Intending to use photos as references for my work, I purchased my first 35mm camera. However, the photographic process so captivated me that it became my favorite form of artistic expression. When I used a macro lens for the
first time in 1996, it didn’t take me long to find nature’s own paintings.
You will certainly find traditional florals and landscapes in my work, but
my real love is discovering the breathtaking abstract forms and colors deep within a flower.
When I’m genuinely moved by what I see through the lens, I press the shutter release and wonder if this is the one that will inspire me to dust
off my paint brushes.
But once I see the printed image.......well........why bother?
